Summer Fun and Then Some

Today we returned to BC Children’s Hospital for follow up scans after three months of freedom. He had bloodwork, a chest X-ray and an MRI completed today and they all came back normal/clear! What a relief and we are praising the Lord for this blessing. It means we can go home in the clear for another three months!

Since I’ve been absent from social media the past couple months I wanted to give an update on what we’ve been up to since our last update.

The most exciting update (besides today’s news) was getting to go on Nico’s Make-A-Wish trip to Hawaii at the end of May! His wish was to take a helicopter tour of a volcano. Although Oahu doesn’t have an active volcano, we got to go stay at the Aulani resort. The kids, even Nali, had a great time! Lots of swimming, some snorkeling, a bit of exploring made for a memorable and fun trip. On our last day there, Nick and Nico even spotted a shark during their last snorkeling venture! The helicopter tour was our first time in a helicopter and the views were spectacular. Too bad Nick and I felt queasy after the first 10 minutes, lol. Thankfully we managed to keep it together and we didn’t need to use the “Aloha bag”! Great memories were made.

Not too long after getting back from Hawaii Nico broke his arm… again. Same arm and area as before and for those of you who are keeping count that was break number three. And then about 6 weeks after that break he broke it a fourth time! He sees his orthopedic doctor tomorrow morning to follow up and see if anything needs to be done and if things are healing well.

The boys are also being productive this summer. They have started collecting refundable recyclables as way to earn some money. They came up with the name “Recycling Brothers Inc.” and with the help of our awesome neighbors have made over $40. Their job is to collect beverage containers that can be returned for a refund of the deposit and then when they’ve collected a few bags we tack that on as an extra stop on one of our town trips. Love my little entrepreneurs!!

Mostly we’ve just been trying to enjoy the warm summer months here in BC which are incredible. So far there haven’t been any wildfires to my knowledge which means fresh air and sunshine with some rainy days scattered in between. We’ve been able to enjoy time with friends, hikes and building forts outside. The last couple of weeks we have been busy moving into a different house across the road. We had been living in a temporary basement apartment until a more long-term home opened up and we are so excited to be moved in! It’s a mess of boxes still but we love our new place and hope to call it home for a very long time.

So that pretty much sums up what’s been going on at Casa de Coursey. Nico has been feeling great (other than that arm being broken.) Thank you so much for your love and prayers. We are looking forward to settling into our new home and soaking in all that the summer has left to offer. ❤
